Earlier in March, Laura Kriefman headlined at NOW Gallery with WITCiH performing seeing sound show, Hellion: Kicking the Mic.
The performance was part of an extraordinary night of live music celebrating International Women’s Day. Hosted by Now Gallery in Greenwich, the sounds reactive visuals on Laura’s costume set off Slices of Time, the featured exhibition by Emmanuelle Moureaux.
Laura was headlining a night of live music, curated by the Delia Derbyshire day commissioned artist, BISHI.
"Pushing the boundaries"
The night featured performances by Gestalt, Abi Wade, BISHI and Laura Kriefman, and DJ sets by Shruti Kumar and Lia Mice.
Speaking after the event, Laura commented, “I loved being able to see Abi Wade perform, both as Gestalt, and then with a solo set. Her cello compositions and delicate vocals take you into a cinematic soundscape. It was lovely falling into the colours of “Slices of Time” with such a visual score.
"Bishi’s music is always stunning," Laura continued, "And it was so exciting to hear her new song cycle, which she wrote as the commissioned artist for Delia Derbyshire Day. I loved hearing her contemporary electronica sounds combined with the sitar and her beautiful vocals and harmonies.”

Laura had a great time at Now Gallery, being able to share her latest work with the artists around her.
“I was over the moon to be able to perform Hellion in London. It was great to be able to dive back into the project, and see how my approach to the existing tracks has matured. I loved having the chance to spend time really exploring my visuals and soundscapes. I love performing this show, as the computer chooses the final melody every time - so I am always in dialogue with the machine, making myself appear and disappear on stage.
Bishi is always a great collaborator - full of ideas, and in true Bishi-style, I made my entrance down a spiral staircase to DJ Shruti’s great tunes."
And it sounds like there is more to come from a Bishi X Laura collaboration.
“We’ve recently recorded a podcast together, for the forthcoming WITCiH podcasts: so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open.”
