Like a marble run, where the marble reaches the bell and it dings with the most dulcet tones….

Some problems you can unravel with sheer deep thinking: space, quiet, pen, paper and dogged determination. When that works the literal act of working at the problem unravels it as each tangle unravelled reveals another length of string to follow through the labyrinth.

I’ve cracked the audience, dS and dancer’s role for the show Hidden Fields and now I can’t wait for rehearsals. (I thought about showing you my stick figure pictures, but you’ll only laugh!)

Sometimes you can’t even dare to find a solution, though, because you are being swung all over the place…

Last week I heard a bell ( it’s a figurative bell) when listening to the incredible Ben Cameron…. And suddenly realised that the reason I couldn’t dare to find the solution was because I was like a marble in the red, blue and yellow marble run we had when I was kid. It was one of those amazing ones where you could build and change and rearrange the routes, the channels, even as the marble ran it’s course….

I’ve been the marble for quite a while recently. And suddenly I was rolling away from a beautiful dulcet bell that I had set chiming in my passing.

I know what I want to do. Yep. Really. I’ve got it. But now I’ve got to repeat step one and unravel the planetary system of ideas that have just flooded my mind. I need quiet, and dogged determination…….
