Arcadia’s Pangea

A Crane Dance for 50,000 people.

With her expertise in choreographing industrial machinery, Laura Kriefman was invited to join Arcadia’s team to design a movement palette, and choreographed their 50 metre tall crane. Weighing 140 tonnes, the crane was at the centre of the new Arcadia’s Pangea Field, which was exclusive to Glastonbury Festival.

Pangea’s opened the 2019 festival with all of Arcadia’s anticipated impact: fire, lights, killer sound system, dazzling lighting design and 360 projections by Astral Projekt and Heckler.

Weighing 140 tonnes, the crane will be the centre of the new Arcadia’s Pangea Field, which will be exclusive to Glastonbury festival, and evolve over the next 5 years.

Laura pre-choreographed opening and closing routines for each night, and then made the crane dance for Arcadia’s impressive line up: from Carl Cox and Jamie Jones, Fatboy Slim and Eats Everything, Bicep, Charlotte De Witte, The Black Madonna, Andy C, Daniel Avery and Four Tet.

Pangea opened on Friday to an audience of 50,000 and was live streamed on the BBC on Friday night.

My gig at @glastofest was on a 140 tonne crane that was rescued from Bristol docks and turned into a fire breathing, 360 degree spinning stage for some really lucky DJs. I was alone at the bottom while the top spun around an enormous crowd of people circling around it as far as the eye could see. It was mad and intense and I won't forget it in a hurry. Here are some pics and a vid of me with @officialfatboyslim and @eatseverything who I went on after. I have included my setlist at the end as so many people have been asking for it. Massive thanks to the team at @arcadia for coming up with such a crazy and brilliant idea.
