The Hellion Trace team just spent a great couple of days up in the European City of Culture 2021, Coventry, as part of Random String Festival and Symposium. This event, organised by Ludic Rooms, is a celebration of all things creative in technology, giving a great opportunity for professionals in the industry to come together as well as for the public to engage with work of this type across the city.
On the Friday, Laura gave a talk on the technology and processes behind Kicking The Mic, demonstrating how the LED animated dress and live-looping Ableton hand controller work. We also attended some fantastic talks given by Irini Papadimitriou, Graham Dunning, The Other Way Works and many more, as well as reconnecting with friends old and new, all at the lovely Warwick Arts Centre.
On Saturday, we had plenty of time to explore the city and experience some of the fantastic works, before Laura’s headline evening performance of Kicking the Mic at the beautiful St John’s Church in the heart of Coventry’s historic medieval sector. We’ve been loving the audience reaction both at the event, and the fantastic images people have been sharing on social media!
